More Than Idle No More: March from Alert Bay to Victoria, BC

Friday, February 1st 2013 12:10:46pm

Media Advisory

More Than Idle No More
Join hereditary Chief Beau Dick on his march from Alert Bay to Victoria, B.C.

In the spirit of cultural preservation, Beau Dick and his family will embark on a journey from their home on the northern tip of Vancouver Island to the Legislature building of B.C. in Victoria. There, a copper cutting ceremony will take place, symbolically breaking the chains that bind us, freeing our hands so that we may create a better future for our children. No matter age, race or location - each one of us has a part to play and only together we shall rise as one.

Where: Alert Bay, B.C., to Victoria, B.C. (see detailed schedule below)

Date: February 2-10, 2013
